I wanted a power wheelchair, so as I had heard good reports about Ebay, I decided to give them a try. I did a search for power wheelchairs within my price range, and low and behold I saw one that appeared to fit the bill perfectly.
I placed a bid for it ($400) and won it, I sat and waited for the chair to arrive, after about a week, UPS knocked on the door with the first part of the chair, the control box and the batteries, the following day they arrived with the rest of it.
I now had a wheelchair complete with batteries & control box, I duly assembled the whole thing, then I noticed that the tires were flat, so not to be out done, I pumped them up, only to find that there was a 3 inch long split in the tire through which the inner tube was bulging quite dramatically.
OK I thought, this shouldn't take much to replace, then I tried the batteries, nothing nada zilch zip as flat as the proverbial pancake, I plugged in the charger and left it to charge, after about 6 hours there appeared to be a full charge, (at least all the lights were on), I unplugged the charger and tried the joy stick I got a click, the chair steadfastly refused to budge so much as an inch. I have checked out new batteries and these will cost me close to $200 to replace.
If it was just the tires I wouldn't say a word, after all tires don't last a lifetime, but the batteries too, now THAT'S taking it TOO DAMN FAR, I emailed the guy and told him I was NOT a happy camper, to which he replied with words to the effect of tough cookies, I've got your money so you can sod off. I replied that my name was not Hunt, nor did it rhyme with it, and I will be notifying the auction about his attitude. Unfortunately the auction did absolutely nada zip zilch about it.
Needless to say I am NOT best pleased with either the low life who sold me the chair, nor the auction company who shrugged off any responsibility for the transaction.
